The collaboration between Tarik Jeans and Volkswagen has evolved into a ready-to wear clothing line made for everyday use. Modern Nostalgia drives the theme of the collection, revisiting the heritage of Malaysia in its design language. As a portfolio on contemporary style, the lookbook highlights popular trends whilst maintaining the vintage feel of both brands.
As an initiative to improve the state of Malaysian wildlife, the joint project of “Modern Nostalgia - the collection” has been created by Tarik Jeans and Volkswagen Malaysia. Part of the profits generated from the sales of this collection will be donated to the Kenaboi Forest Reserve in Negeri Sembilan on World Tapir Day which is celebrated every year on 27th April.
The Malayan tapir is the only Asian species native to the island of Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and Southern Thailand. Despite its natural lifespan of up to 30 years, agricultural developments, deforestation, illegal animal trafficking and traffic accidents have resulted in an alarming decrease in their numbers. It is estimated that there are only less than 3,000 of them left in the wild. Conservation efforts such as the planned reservation created by the Negeri Sembilan Wildlife, Perhilitan and National Park Department offer a glimmer of hope.
The goal to secure the future of these endangered creatures lies at the heart of this collection. Looking to give back to the environment, local community and future generations, Tarik Jeans and Volkswagen Malaysia shares the value of civic unity by contributing to the conservation efforts and raising awareness on the issue.
